Community Hike: 50ish and over: Eklutna Lakeside trail

  • Mile 10, 39370 Eklutna Lake Rd, Chugiak, AK 99567 United States (map)

Adventure Club members can attend this event as one of your free monthly adventures

When: Tuesday, May 20 at 12:45PM

Please arrive at the trailhead between 12:45PM and 1PM. We will begin our hike promptly at 1PM.

*This event repeats at different trailheads on the third Tuesday of each month*

Where: Eklutna Lakeside Trail in Chugach State Park (this is an Alaska State Parks-maintained lot). Please note that there is no cell service in the Eklutna Lake parking area. We’ll plan to gather by the outhouses.

About the hike and what to expect: This afternoon walk/hike is designed for more 'seasoned' hikers. We'll be moving at a leisurely pace, chatting along the way. Hikers can expect to adventure for about 2 hours - sometimes these events are bit less, sometimes these activities are a bit more. Our objective is rarely a specific destination - but more about enjoying time in the outdoors.

The Eklutna lakeside trail traverses the north side of Eklutna Lake. While the trail extends far back into the Eklutna Valley, we will hike along the trail for about an hour and return the same way. There is minimal elevation gain on the trail.

After the event, we’ll enjoy hot drinks at the trailhead.

Hike fees:

  • Adventure Club members may attend this event as part of their 1 or 2 free, monthly events. Learn about the club here.

Parking: Please note that participants are responsible for paying relevant parking fees.

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event, we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

What to bring:

  • Comfortable tennis/trail shoes or hiking boots

  • Warm gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Rain gear

  • Water and snacks as desired

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority, and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Trip minimums: We require a minimum of 2 registered participants to run our community adventures. If a scheduled event is canceled due to low sign-ups, participants will receive a full refund or credit towards a future event. Adventure Club members can receive a credit towards future Revel events.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out.
