Community Hike: 50ish and over: Long Lake Loop

  • Long Lake Loop Palmer, AK 99645 United States (map)

Adventure Club members can attend this event as one of your free monthly adventures

When: Tuesday, August 19 at 12:45PM

Please arrive at the trailhead between 12:45PM and 1PM. We will begin our hike promptly at 1PM.

*This event repeats at different trailheads on the third Tuesday of each month*

Where: Long Lake Loop

About the hike and what to expect: The Matanuska Greenbelt trails are a popular area for fishing, hiking, and biking. The park includes a series of lakes, located in deep depressions between moraine ridges (eskers) formed by glaciers 30,000 years ago. The Long Lake Loop is a moderately strenuous hike along rolling terrain. We will walk approximately 4 miles at a leisurely pace, sticking together as a group.

This afternoon walk/hike is designed for more 'seasoned' hikers. We'll be moving at a leisurely pace, chatting along the way. Hikers can expect to adventure for about 2 hours - sometimes these events are bit less, sometimes these activities are a bit more. Our objective is rarely a specific destination, but more about enjoying time in the outdoors.

Hike fees:

  • Adventure Club members may attend this event as part of their 1 or 2 free, monthly events. Learn about the club here.

  • First-time attendees may attend this event for free. When you register, please select “first-timer.”

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event, we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

What to bring:

  • Comfortable tennis/trail shoes or hiking boots

  • Warm gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Rain gear

  • Water and snacks as desired

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority, and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Trip minimums: We require a minimum of 2 registered participants to run our community adventures. If a scheduled event is canceled due to low sign-ups, participants will receive a full refund or credit towards a future event. Adventure Club members can receive a credit towards future Revel events.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out.
