Adventure Club members can attend this event as one of your free monthly adventures.
When: Sunday, July 20 at 1:30PM. We anticipate it will take our group about 4 hours to complete the hike.
Please arrive at the trailhead between 1:15PM and 1:30PM. We will begin our hike promptly at 1:30PM.
Where: We’ll meet at Government Peak Recreation Area.
About the hike and what to expect: We’ll be hiking at a leisurely pace for a little over 3 miles with about 1,500’ of elevation gain. Blueberry Knoll, in Government Peak Recreation Area, offers stunning views of the Talkeetna and Chugach mountains. We'll start in the forest, meandering between local ski trails for about a mile before starting our ascent.
The trail is steep in places, and we recommend trekking poles if you have them.
If you need to borrow a pair, please let us know - we have lots of extra gear. Our turnaround point will be about 1,500’ from the trailhead.
🥾 Mileage: Approximately 3.5 miles total
🥾 Elevation Gain: About 1,500 feet
