Where: Starting at Crevasse Moraine

About: Kick off summer with this route that winds through the Crevasse-Moraine trail system, skirts around part of Long Lake, and ends at the Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area. The easy rolling hills (ancient glacial moraines) of the Matanuska Greenbelt weave through birch, spruce, and cottonwood forests. We’ll hike at a leisurely pace and stay together as a group, stopping for snack breaks and learning about the flora and fauna. 

  • Difficulty: Easy/moderate for most hikers

  • Distance: Approximately 5.5 miles
