Community Hike: sponsored by Now Health, Mt. Eklutna Loop

  • 25100 Malcolm Drive Anchorage, AK, 99567 United States (map)

Registration required. There is no cost to join us, but we do ask you sign up so we don’t leave any stragglers behind at the trailhead! This event has been made possible by Now Health.

When: Sunday, September 28

Please arrive at the trailhead between 12:45PM and 1PM. We will begin our hike promptly at 1PM.

Where: We will meet at the Peters Creek Trail in Chugach State Park

What to expect: Just north of Peters Creek, Bear Point and Mt. Eklutna stand comfortably around 4,000 feet above sea level. We'll begin our hike from the Peters Creek Trailhead and start our climb on the western route. We will climb up to the top of Bear Point, a steep incline gaining about 1,800 feet in less than 2 miles. We’ll follow the ridge to Mt. Eklutna.

At this intersection, hikers will have the option to ascend Mount Eklutna (an additional mile up and mile down) or hang out and enjoy a tundra nap. The downhill is steep and straight with few switchbacks, so trekking poles are recommended.

Once at the base of Mount Eklutna, we descend about 1.3 miles through the forest as we return to the trailhead.

🥾 Mileage: Approximately 7 miles

🥾 Elevation Gain: About 3,500 feet

🥾 Estimated Hiking Time: 6-8 hours. Please plan for an all day adventure.

Can I bring my pup? No. We ask you leave pups behind for this event. Thanks for understanding.

Cost: This is a free community event. Thank you, Now Health!

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact the team at 907-903-1664.

What to bring:

  • Comfortable tennis/trail shoes or hiking boots

  • Warm gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Rain gear

  • Headlamp

  • Water, snacks, and a packed lunch as desired

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Trip minimums: We require a minimum of 2 registered participants to run our community trips. In the event we do not meet our trip minimum, your guide will call you the evening prior to our trip departure.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.

Will I summit? Revel makes no guarantees that individuals or our group will summit during these adventures. It’s a great goal, but safety remains our top priority. The nature of recreating in Alaska requires flexibility. Weather, wildlife, terrain, injury, etc. can all warrant a shift in plans. Please join our adventures with an open mind.
